DRYWALL

Drywall, otherwise known as gypsum board comes in 4'x8' and 4'x12' sheets most commonly in thicknesses of 1/2", 5/8", and is nailed or screwed directly to wall studs or ceiling joists. After installation, seams are taped, and screw heads are mudded over. The finished surface can then be simply painted, or textured before painting.
